Hellcat inside

Mon Feb 11, 2008 7:01 am

Gretings all,

I am wonder is anywhere available color photos of the interior of the Grumman Hellcat. There is many images of the retsored airplanes but I am curious to see any interior.

It is possible that the Fleet Air Arm Museum's Hellcat may have an unrestored interior; an e-mail to them would establish that. There are, of course, B&W shots by Grumman in ArmyJunk's stunning thread at the top of the page, but I don't recall any colour shots from wartime myself.

??

Oooo my God- I hope that airman on image are not dead :( Jack, any more info?

Great image Swiss Mustang, I think that I have somehwere similar angle and color image.

Good idea JDK about the FAA musum. I will try to get in contact.

To be hinest my request is maybe some silly. I get amazing and brand new scale kit from Eduard in 1/48. Maybe I am a little bit spoiled but I prefer to use archive images even in model works. Maybe not to achieve perfection but as possible close to the authentic look. Maybe I will make plane flown by Alexander Vraciu [is he Romanian?] and have white 19 number on fuselage.

Try this site:

look under Early Fighters and you will find some F6F shots. One or 2 are in color.

He was indeed of Romanian descent. I'll post a recent picture of him this evening - I had the pleasure of hearing him speak and spending some time in his company late last year.
