Our wing has just started offering flights in or SNJ “290”. Check out the website for more info.

Did you all have to get a LOA for that? Would be interested in finding out how the process went...

LOAs don’t exist anymore but as far as I know they were never required for the SNJ/T-6. If memory serves me anything over 800 HP with a VNE of 250 or greater required an LOA. Since the T-6 is rated at 600 HP with a VNE under 250 it never needed an LOA.

Ryan - the CAF operates a Rides for Hire program under a letter of exemption from the FAA. Only specifically approved aircraft and pilots can participate in the program and must be approved by CAF HQ. The details are in CAFR 60-3, a current copy of which was handed out to each CAF Unit Leader or mailed to them at the CAF Wing Staff Meeting a week ago.

Or you can contact Bob Stenevik at CAF HQ for more information on the program. Bob travels a lot and if you need help getting in touch with him, send me a PM and I'll provide some direct contact info. Same holds for any CAF units that aren't aware of the program or its details.

The High Sky Wing in Midland, Tx currently offers rides in our SNJ and PT-19 under this program and I'm the unit Ops Officer, so that's my connection. Fly safe.

Randy
