What is this?
It is about a mile long facing SE with a parabolic dish at the small end aiming towards an antena the middle and a larger one at the big end. It is WSW of Titusville, FL and half way to Kissimmee. It is marked on the chart as a test strip. We flew past this place leaving the airshow on Sunday morning and couldnt figure out what this is in the middle of nowhere.

Oh no ! Chuck, I think you've stumbled across the super secret photon torpedo test range !!

Seriously, they have something similar, but not near as big, onsite at JSC-Houston, that they use to test radar. When the are not using it for its primary purpose the JSC R/C club flys off of it .

Jack, do you know how hard it is to get the shields up on a Stearman ?

Have you ever seen what a photon torpedo can do to a Stearman ? :crispy:

Chuck, welcome to the world of low and slow, that place has been there for years. The last time I flew over it was criss crossed with wires.

What is that at the departure end? If there is a departure end. Looks like an aircraft?

Has anyone ever seen the balloon in the same area that is tethered, but goes up to an extereme altitude? It is in the same area somewhere. I saw it in a sectional once, but don't remember where at.

The one I've seen is off Horseshoe Beach, and it goes up to 15K or some such.
