everyone of us warbird nuts hates the navys historical department for fooling the senators into passing this "leave it alone law"...when are we going to find a way to outsmart them and get the legislation changed to allow the preservation of our Nations heritage (in reguards to sunken military aircraft)? who should do it? how should it be done? You know as much as I know that when the Navy tries to salvage a plane they end up causing more damage to it and sometimes ruin it to the point that they give up letting it smash to the bottom of the lake again. Just a rant, but somehow somebody with a big name and some muscle needs to start a movement to revise the legislature...

Good question. Like the TBD that Champlin had the rights to and actually pulled up the canopy.

I for one would like to see a Devastator.

i'd like to see the devastator recovered also. your thoughts are noble. perhaps a petition is a good start, but who do you give it to that has the clout with the navy??

I would sign it.

So many Navy wrecks...many in the great lakes just waiting to get recovered.

The NHC motto:

"Saving America's history from Americans one aircraft at a time".

I'm sure it must be just a coincidence that once this stuff became worth money the policy in place since probably before WW2 was changed.

Would a petition help?

I imagine that everyone WIX would sign, and if we could have different organizations, volunteers, etc going to all the air shows around the continent, and heck, in Europe too, maybe we could get a good list of signatures going. Then I suppose it would take a bunch of contacting of your congressmen and congresswomen to get the ball rolling.

I know that in Canada the government won't do anything unless you tell them too. I figure the US gov't isn't much different is it? So instead of us all moaning about the legislation to the fellow "Choir" members, it's best to direct our complaints the people we elected.

It's worth a shot, right?
