Just got back from ICAS - lots of happy and disappointed folks about the Blues but, as the AF General in our ACC demo meeting said, "You folks have to remember we are fighting a war and my equipment goes to support that first then whats left goes to shows."

I'm happy as I got a personalized autographed poster from the Blues for my kids

Also, the F/A-22 will not be doing any regularly scheduled demos/fly-bys - it MIGHT to the odd appearence (Nellis AFB Aviation Nation) but we were told not to count on seeing it at all.

The F-14 demo is done forever - say good bye to the Cat and hello to the Rhino (Super Hornet)

Oh yes, there are now F-4 Phantom heritage flights being done with Randy Ball's Mig-17 thrown in for vietnam era fly-bys.

Tom do you happen to have any details about the F-4 heritage flights? Like who the pilots are and if will also include a demo?

I'm guessing that with the Germans going out in December, that these heritage flights will be the camoed drones.

Also, is there a schedule posted for this?

Randy you have no idea how true you are in that statement. Those of us that get to play with a live F-4 still couldn't believe it when we first heard the Super called a "Rhino". Next thing you know, they will be calling it the "Turkey".

The F-4 heritage flights are out of Tyndall Fl and Holloman NM. The Tyndall F-4 (which is a QF version) is flown by Lt Col Kerby who also does demo flights! The Holloman ship is Lt Col Hainline and appears to only do heritage flights in a standard (?) camo F-4.

I hear that the Navy Brass is not exactly pleased with the "Rhino" moniker either.

Both Holloman and Tyndall have three camoed jets. One is a SE Asia scheme with the white belly, one is the SE Asia wraparound scheme, and the other is the European green on green scheme. Tyndall also has a very nice standard grey on grey jet. All were QF-4Es not Gs.

3 of the 4 showed up with 4 other regular QFs at Ellington this summer while they were getting away from Hurricane Frances I believe.

The jets from Holloman are also QF-4s. The German airplanes will be gone by December.
