How many Corsairs/Mustangs/B-26's etc exist in El Salvador/Honduras/ and the other places of post WW2 refuge? :?:

There is an F-51 in Guatemala.

There is a F4U-5 Corsair in Honduras, and also a center section.

There are two A-26s, one in Guatemala, one in El Salvador.
There are AT-6s, BT-13, Stearmans, etc. both in Guatemala and in Honduras.

The Mustang in Guatemala, and the Corsair in Honduras, have been declared as historical monuments.

In the past, a couple of individuals attempted to buy the Guatemalan Mustang, but as soon as the aviation community finds out, we move in to stop this airplane from leaving Guatemala. Parts nonetheless, have been removed from the airplane (like the radiator) and are now flying in the U.S. with other Mustangs.

The Hondurans and the Salvadorans, have aviation museums with interesting exhibits.

The aircraft in Guatemala, with the exception of the Mustang and an H-19 helicopter, are inside the air force installations.

Adjacent to the location of the Honduras Aviation Museum, there is a P-63, some Charlie 47s and other types.

Regarding the A-26 types in Guatemala, I saw perhaps half a dozen or so on my first visit in late November, 1971. They were on the other side of the airport and very visible from the terminal. When I returned there in early '73, they were all hulks lying on the ground. Wish I'd have paid more attention to them back then, but I was there to ride narrow gauge steam locomotives.

Not a warbird, but what happened to the Northstar (Merlin powered DC-4) that sat at San Salvador for so long?

The Wings Of A Dream Museum in Brazil has an amazing collection of aircraft including a P-47D that is a veteran of 75 combat missions based from Italy during World War Two while serving with the Brazilian Air Force's 1st Fighter Group. It also boasts an amazing collection of other aircraft such as a birdcage F4U-1 , combat vet Bf-109 G-2 recovered from Norway , Spitfire IX and a lot of other military and civil stuff. Depends on your definition of warbird...it was a former RCAF airplane, then served in the FAS.

Well it has 'parts' of an aircraft recovered from Norway, the fuselage is a new build, one of three put together by Raymond Wagner in Germany.
Nice representative of the fighter though, and will look great with the 'non combat veteran' 190 alongside
