WWII Glider Nose Art PEORIA

Sun May 18, 2008 4:25 pm

Picked this up yesterday. I have seen a photo of "Peoria" somewhere. I recognized it right away when I pulled it out of its sleeve. Does anybody have any more information on the aircraft/crew? Enjoy!

Wow!

I wish I could help you. Where did you find it?

Glider Find

This piece showed up at a country auction at their spring gun auction. This item was in a small pile of stuff brought back by a US Army Signal officer detailed to a French unit in Operation Dragoon, the invasion of Southern France in August 1944. The guy removed it from the glider about a month after the invasion. I bought a few more pieces from the collection, and have all the details of the man who brought it back, but it was truly a right place, right time deal for me.

They sold out, and Rolling Rock is not brewed in Latrobe any more. And I am so disgusted about it that I avoid drinking it.
