Well, here’s another tidbit that might be some good news. Seems like instead of flying commercial to Wally World, some families may look to local entertainment this summer like airhows.

The detailed analysis will have to come later, but the early signs are that skyrocketing prices are both hurting and helping North American air shows. Clearly, AV gas prices exceeding $6 gallon are complicating air show budgets and significantly increasing the cost of conducting an air show. But the good news is that the higher prices are also prompting many families to stay closer to home over the weekends, producing larger-than-normal crowds at many air shows.
"We can't quantify the impact, but a significant portion of ICAS member events are reporting that more people than expected are attending their shows," says ICAS President John Cudahy. "Upcoming shows might use that information to position their events as cost-effective entertainment options for families looking to limit their driving."
