MChord AFB airshow this weekend, anyone else there?

I was going to take my 1944 MB to this show, but the restrictions placed on people displaying vehicles (no weapons, real/demilled/plastic at all, had to be there by 0600 and couldn't leave vehicles overnight) made me decide to just go as a spectator. I got some decent shots even though I took the wrong zoom lens for such things. Most of all, I wanted to finally see a B02 in the air, I've seen a few on the ground and one refueling way overhead through binos...

I decided to do some changes to one of these. While the overall message is a but cheesy, I really like how it turned out.

So what was there a parking lot full of Jeeps and Duece-n-1/2s?

Seems like they could have atleast had the SF's verify demilled weapons and let them go on.

No, but there could have been had more vehicle owners (like myself) hadn't been disuaded to show up due to comical levels of display restrictions. Not even a super soaker was allowed in the vehicles!

Yeah, you'd have thought so. In 2005 that's exactly what they did and there was no problems (I brought my deawt M1928A1 tommy gun and bazooka and nobody had anything bad to say at all). Oh well, I expected as such this would happen. As a former Army Captain, I understand the issues of letting folks bring anything onto an active flight line...

They said over the loudspeakers that it wasn't Bill Anders at the stick. I forgot the name, but it was some USAF LtCol they said it was (could have screwed up, but that's what they said) flying the Mustang...
As for the weather, it was darned cloudy for most of the day. A lot of my shots look like I was taking photos through smoke or something!

It should have been Greg Anders flying Val-halla, he's taken over for his dad.

I would love to see Val Halla someday.

This would have been a great air show if the original hoped for Jet Warbird lineup had been flying (F-100, F-86, FJ-4B, T-33, etc.). Maybe the planned 2010 show will have a terrific jet warbird grouping like the one originally planned for this year. That would make a trip to the west coast worthwhile.

Tora was easily the highlight of this show for me. I love organized chaos and they have got to be the best at it.

I know Saturday was tough to get photos of the flying planes at first due to seriously low cloud cover. It made for a few interesting photos, though. One shot of a USAFA cadet jumping out of ghostly C-17 turned out pretty cool. I was pretty bummed that the V-22 didn't show, was hoping to see one of those in person. I got great photos of the static planes as I used my Fort Lewis post sticker to get in an hour early. I've showed some of the photos I got of the F-22s and other planes and it has shocked other folks that there are NO people in these photos (like the Strike Eagle photo at the top of this thread).
I'm usually not big on souvenirs of air shows, but I really liked the patches they made for the USAF folks, and I was shocked to see they weren't available to the public. Oh well, I'm sure I will find one on eBay if I look...

Tora was easily the highlight of this show for me. I love organized chaos and they have got to be the best at it.

I love that C-45 in 1950s MATS markings. And the B-18 looks great, also - it would be great to see a flying example of one of those....
