Harold Carlaws Tutors

Just a shot in the dark but has anyone heard anything in way of progress on the 9 Tutors that Harold Carlaw's son bought a couple of years ago? He was intending to paint them all up as Snowbirds and I havent heard anything since?

I haven't had a chance to get out that way yet to see if they can be viewed. I understand they are for static display only. One of them is currently displayed at Harold Carlaw's place in Campbellford.

Ther's a CT141 airworthy on the field @ KPAE. The owner has two very special friends who can coach him a bit on flying it, both name of Granley and both ex RCAF demo team pilots, one Golden Hawks and the younger Ex Snowbirds

Bud never actually flew with the Golden Hawks. The opportunity was there but various things kept him from getting to do it. He did fly the F-86 with the RCAF and he was the demo pilot for the Harvard. When he got out of the Air Force, he had 3618.3hrs, including 1000.3hrs in the F-86, 2000hrs in the Harvard, 350hrs in the T-33, 1hr in the Fleet Canuck, 25hrs in the C-47, 40hrs in the Chipmunk, 200hrs in the C-45 and 2hrs in the CF-100.
He's a heck of a stick, no matter how you look at it!

Does he still fly it? I heard that it is a CL41g not a 114?

The Tutor out west is Bill Lamberton's CT-114 CAF 114017 and is a real Tutor. Lamberton got it in trade with the Comox Museum for his Vampire. Lamberton probably doesn't need much tutoring from the Granley's...he is an ex RCAF Vampire pilot I believe...

Jim I am alsmost certain it was one of the ex tebuans as it has or had the long range tanks fitted and the larger spine antenna as well. Will try and get a pic.

I don't know about Carlaws Tutors but Jim is correct, Bill Lambertons is a real CT-114 Tutor not a Tebuan. It's registration number is N4017B.

I think you are speaking of N402AG which is in Colorado in Golden Centainaires markings. N403AG was based in NY in standard CAF markings, but I'm not sure where it is today. The Third Tebuan was donated to Embry-Riddle by Travolta. Those are the three Tebuans and Lamberton has the real CT-114.
