Was surfing at the NHC site today and discovered this article. Interesting in that it lists definitive numbers of Navy birds lost during training in Lake Michigan during WWII, apparently as referenced from the ships logs and aircraft accident cards.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget.

Dan,

You are really going to get me so ??^%#@!!!!_)*&*^&^%%###@@ that I will not sleep tonight.

I first replyed to the Paris Island Bermuda and then read this one. It is time to challenge the NHC and save some aviation history. I believe that some of these planes can be legally recovered by the private sector through a couple of loop holes. Is anyone up to financial risk?

Glad I could help, Lex. Better have Mary pour you a double. :D

Actually, the SB2A post got me grinding my teeth again. I had chased down the Tullahoma Bermuda at Pensacola in 2005. The remains were strapped to a couple of skids behind the restoration hangar as they were apparently still pulling a few bits and pieces off her for their SB2A restoration (now on display). I left contact info with the civilian head of volunteers just in case they decided to scrap what was left.

Of course, they scrapped the remains anyway. Better have Mary pour me a double also. :?

That is the kind of stuff that pisses me off. There is an awful lot of bashing of some of these places that goes on, and I try to be devil's advocate for some of it, then they do something like that and get even myself jacked off.

Things related to the planes still in Lake Michigan are getting worse now that zebra mussels have covered everything on the lake floor. What a waste!
