Can you imagine taking off for lunch early, going to your local small town airport, and watching a foreign country's airforce show off their internationally recognized best-in-the-West airshow team perform for a crowd primarily composed of school kids from both the US and Mexico???

This actually happened today, October 1, 2008.

The Snowbirds flew out of Douglas Muni in Southern AZ and did their full show on a Wednesday. The Douglas and Agua Prieta schools took their kids out to the airport and those of us lucky enough to hear about a virtually non-publicised, but free show, were welcomed by the City of Douglas. Special thanks to Robin Bekhuis of the Gadsden Hotel who was the organizer. This was roughly equivalent to getting the Indy Racing League to run at your local bullring, or maybe the NY Yankees and LA Dodgers putting on a game at the Chino Hills Athletic Field. The best part is, I will bet that more than a few future aviation careers were born today. The kids went nuts watching these guys fly.

The Snowbirds are Awesome, and so is their country, eh?

Hey Rob,

Glad you liked the show! I have nothing to do with the Snowbirds other than coming from the same country, but appreciate your praise for them. Oh and thanks for complimenting the great white north, too.

The Snowbirds are fantastic aren't they? It's too bad I never got to see them this year.

Cheers,

David
