I've talked with him via IM and he's just taking a break from WIX. The personal attacks, irrelevant discussions, and general slip in quality had discouraged him and others (including myself). And a few other things. He's ok.

Thanks Ryan

in the meantime I am in direct contact with him - nothing to add to your summary...

I just discovered that there are some folks (like you and Jack) in the same boat as I am...

So the rest of us idiots are left to insult each other without his actual warbird-related images to break up the vitriol?

How selfish of him to ruin the board for the rest of us. Everybody sucks. I hate me.

Oh, yeah...

Now it's warbird-related.

Come on back Jack, strength in numbers. BTW Isn't it time for a string of Navy photos? I would love to see some formation photos of Hellcats, Corsairs etc.

You know, the whole problem here is that a keyboard is very impersonal.
Each weekend I sit around the hangar with my buddies. They're young and old, republican and democrat, rich and poor, taildragger pilots and the worst.... nosedragger pilots 8)
We argue but we all get along. Nobody name calls or stomps off. When you type something, the letters come up on the screen but you're not sitting next to the person you're talking to. I don't know how to fix it. But I do know its possible to disagree without getting mean.

Once you meet in person, you tend to become more laid back with those people. When you meet at the WIX party at Oshkosh, you end up making friends. Do we have different beliefs on some things? Sure, but we all get along great in person.

I must agree with Jack's (and some others) thoughts regarding the more recent times on this forum. Though I am a very new member to WIX, I have been in the warbird and militaria collectibles world for over 25 years. I have left the more "public" forums in the militaria collecting world simply because of the negativity and non-productive attitudes. Before I joined WIX, I was a "lurker" for over a year or more, and I recognized so many friends that I have known and respected in the warbird movement as participants on WIX. It appeared to me WIX to be a "brotherhood" of very passionate people, which is what I was (and am) looking to be a part of. I think some of the more recent past threads have contained somewhat "non-productive" dialog, and have, in certain ways, been harmful to the mission of the forum. Just my opinion.

A few weeks ago, Mgawa said,

"Talk to each other like gentlemen".

In my book, that pretty much covers it.

Amen Brother....

I hate to hear this kind of talk....This is a great community.

Just like other communities there are those of us that wont behave and those of us that will.

I hope I have helped and not hindered here....Like I have said before...if I step on some toes...let me know and we'll talk about it.

Hopefully Jack will be back soon...

GO WIX!
