Common engine.
Airshow invites and parts in Hollywood scripts for additional income.

I hope that one doesn't get sold too soon! That's the Kate replica that goes to airshows near me. I've also spoken to the owner some. It's a nice replica painted up in the (inauthentic) colors of Fuchida's Kate. I like having it around at airshows because I've been able to use it (and Yellow Rose) as a prop for telling the story of Jake DeShazer and Mitsou Fuchida. I was looking forward to it all the more as I finally got to meet Fuchida's daughter about two months ago. It would be a sad day for me if it wasn't here in TX.

Ryan, using the story of those two airmen is really very clever at adding the personal touch to those aircraft. I'm curious, is Mr. DeShazer still living?

Last I heard he still is. I was in semi-frequent contact with him, but he hasn't been doing as well lately. I do stay in touch with one of his daughters.

Below is a picture that includes the Kate in question. I believe it's the Kate on the right. My sister took this picture at Randolph AFB in November (I couldn't take pictures because I was out on the field 8) :) )

Ryan,

The Kate in question is Col. Pat McClure's. It has a yellow & red stripe tail. It also was in the movie Tora Tora Tora. Wonder what he going to get next, maybe a Yak?

Cheers,

Lynn

Yes I know. I've met Mr. McClure. The last time I saw the aircraft it seemed to be in great shape with a good paint job. I can't seem to dig up any closer photographs of mine.
