When was the last engine shutdown

Tue Sep 23, 2008 7:25 am

Here is an interesting question. When was the last engine shut down on a F101 voodoo in the U.S? Which one and where? In Canada I think the last one could possible be the CF101 that was flown into the National Air Museum in Ottawa.

Hi Peter,

Voodoo #101025 which is at Canada Aviation Museum in Ottawa was acquired in 1984. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the last CF-101 flight was by #101006 on April 19/87 to CFB Chatham.

Brian

Thanks Brian

Interesting regarding the Chatham example. What about 101067 the black beauty that is now on a post?

101067 the "Electric Voodoo" was flown down and returned to the US April 7/87. The one on the pole in North Bay is 101054(?) painted as 101067, the original 101067 is at the Minnesota ANG Historical Museum and has been re-painted in US colours.

Here's a couple photos of the Voodoo that we're talking about.

Very nice pics BLR.
I wonder how bad "067" is after spending years on the post.

The last Voodoo to fly was 006,on april 19, 1987 on a flight from CFB Chatham to Greenwood, where it was met by a t-33 from CFB Shearwater, for evenutal display at CFB Cornwallis, it then ended up in Hillsbrough NB, its engines are now with the Atlantic Canda aAviation Museum in Halifax.

Here are a few shots of 006 I took at Cornwallis in 2006.

Did it move to Hillsbrough NB recently?

She looks in pretty good condition albeit missing the pitot tube on the nose.

Nice pix...

The Voodoo's always seem to have rust strains in that area just below the access panels between the cockpit....I am curious as to what is kept in under those panels...any ideas?
