We have a very interesting and amusing thread running on the Flypast Forum concerning the indentations on the leading edge of Spitfire SL574 and how they got there and indeed if they were 'applied' post the cricket pitch incident. The Spitfire is currently resident at the San Diego Museum.

With these dimensions it would then be possible to establish the angular track of the Spitfire across the playing line.
