Warbird Information Exchange

I haven't had much time in the last month to keep up with WIX. But I did read a recent post by Tim inspired me to make this post. It looks like Tim is going though all this photos and changing the names into a format that makes it easy for Scott to add the photos to the registry. Good idea Tim!

Here is the problem... I am gradually getting all of my photos scanned to JPGs, but I have my own file naming format, that doesn't match Scott's. In addition with work and other activities that chip away at my spare time, I really don't have the time to rename the files so Scott can use them. SO I AM LOOKING FOR A VOLUNTEER!

If you are the right person for the job let me know. I can provide you with data CDs with the JPGs along with an Excel file that provides the serial numbers of each plane in each photo on the disk. The successful candidate would then be responsilbe for checking the registry to see if Scott already has the picture, and if not renaming the file and adding it to a queue of files to be sent to Scott. It would also likely help Scott that the file to cropped appropriately and adjusted to 600 pixels wide, to reduce Scotts time in preping the pic.

It is a big job that would take some time, but doesn't need to be done all at once. I have my photos from 1993, 2003 and 2004 ready to go. I am working on 1994 and the first disk of 2005 will likely be full and ready in a few months. The bonus is that you could keep the disks I send you. The requirement is that you must have some spare time to dedicate to the task.

All of this is to help increase the usefullness of the Registry and to help provide a better tool to WIX.
