7 Dec 1941: To All Ships: WELL DONE

Sun Dec 07, 2008 6:33 pm

Aloha All,
The message pennants and flags fly each 7 December from the signal tower at Pearl Harbor...responding to this message:

TO NAVBASE PEARL HARBOR HI
INFO GENERAL
BT
TARE VICTOR GEORGE DESIG 67
BT

The signalmen of TODAY would NOT know the meaning. Only the signalmen STILL standing watch aboard the USS Arizona and USS Utah know that:

TARE VICTOR GEORGE DESIG 67

means "To All Ships: WELL DONE".

See photo of the signal tower at:

Interesting tradition. I'd never heard of that, very somber reminder.

Wow

David,

I read that thread on the other board.

I wonder how Mr. Hau's grocery list reads.
:-)

A very interesting and thought provoking post
from you. Thanks!
