I also would like to honor December 8th as an important day as well. Today the Japanese bomb Clark and Iba field and other forces in the Philippines. Our air force had just landed back at Clark when the Japanese struck. Many of our B-17's and P-40B's of the 20PS where destroyed on the ground. A most noted pilot: Lt. Max Louk was on his take off role when a bomb hit near his P-40B trapping him inside and he was burned alive. Two other P-40B pilots recieved direct bomb hits killing them instantly. Ulitmately our forces on Luzon where forced back onto Bataan and Japan would provail.

Remember the 24th PG and all the men who had no chance but still fought with what they had. They are true heroes: Remember them. :!:

Or maybe even December 8, 1941?

Yes, it is the anniversary for the tragic Clark Field attack. Makes it even worse that they were alerted and "ready"! If I recall, Clark lost a higher percentage of their force than Pearl.
Came across a website on the B-17 Swoose that I had to share

http://dba-oracle.blogspot.com/2008/08/ ... -nest.html

and even shows a picture of the "early B-17 with nose gear" and even has a picture!! Can anyone say B-26? Hope that's not anyone's web site from here!

Interestingly, before the Pearl Harbor attacks, but on December 8th 1941 (because of the international date line) in Khota Baru, the RAAF were making some dents in Japanese plans before being forced back.

Therefore some of the first Allied shots, bombing and attacks of the Pacific war were flown by American-built Australian-operated Lockheed Hudsons.
