Mudge, your idea is a good one of improving the P-38 by changing the GM engines to Rolls Royce ones. But I recall the Brits already thought of that with the Mustang a half century ago.

Here's what I would do: When I am Emperor ( if it is a fantasy why stop at Pres?) I'll designate the CAF as the National Historical FLYING Museum. The first acquisition will be the Spruce Goose. We'll get Ray and Nelson to re-engine it with Griffons. THEN WE'LL MAKE GARY CHANGE THE PLUGS.
