interesting find!! i must admit that with the exception of the 1st f-86, the others are mostly well cared for.

we should invade Iran to take those weapons of mass destruction away from them befor ethey harm someone with them. Only...we gotta keep the danged navy out of the invasion or they'll stamp do not remove all over everything but the donkeys.

The A-26 is ex- N67834 "Reynolds Bombshell" that Bill Odom and Milton Reynolds flew around the world in April 1947. Odom repeated this feat solo later same year. Possibly used by the CIA or some other "agency" in Iran during the 70s.

That's not just a DC-3 but a Super DC-3. Notice the wheel pants. I think the engines were upgraded to R-2000s but there is definitely a different cowling on the engines and spinners on the props.

Unless it's been removed, last time I saw it it still had the executive interior in it. I believe when it was landed there, it was bought by 4 people that currently worked for Bell Helicopter. I seem to recall some spar issue as well. I'm sure when everyone evacuated after we left it was just left sitting there.

Back in the 1980's, my folks lived next door to an AVCO engineer that had been employed by Bell aircraft in Iran in the 1970's. The Shah of Iran had bought several hundred Huey's and Cobra's and then hired Bell aircraft to provide support and training.
He was a Vietnam era U.S. Army helicopter pilot and so he was one of the guys over there trying to conduct flight training to the Iranians. He said they were just dreadful to train. He said it wasn't an I.Q. issue but rather some of these guys had absolutely no understanding of mechanical things. A few had never ridden a bicycle, much less a car. They tore up a lot of helicopters.
The Bell employees were deported after the overthrow of the Shah Of Iran. I think this would have been around 1975 or 76. I think he mentioned they flew them around the various bases on the B-26 or maybe a C-47. I "ll be talking to my folks tonight and try to get his name.
