B-17F s/n 41-24406 414th BS 97th BG flown by Lt Ken Bragg was hit by a ME-109 over Tunis Feb. 1, 1943 and flew 90 minutes back to it's base.

Bf109 does not look at all after that :D It was plane of tinny construction. Even heavy landing could bent it fuselage and after that it was return to factory for major repair. This include new fuselage and new W.Nr. No doubt that N-17 did not have that problems.

Geez - cut 2/3 of the way through the fuselage, tail wheel stuck, and it still didn't even bend on the landing :shock:
