Hi everyone,

I need some help identifying some parts.

The item shown in the first image could possibly be gun sight related. Looking at the two large round holes in the base it seems like it could possibly attach to the top of a gyro gunsight. Any ideas?

The remainder of the items are probably all turret related. Can anyone narrow down exactly what they are from?

Please, let me know what you think......

Mike,

The second picture is a gun cradle which looks similar to a Martin 250CE turret. However, looking at the hand control unit...I'm more inclined to say the items might be from a Sperry upper turret. If I had a Sperry upper turret parts manual...I'd be able to say for sure. I'm sure others on this site can give you a more definate answer.

John

Mike,

Parts numbers would be most helpful. Some careful wet sanding with fine grit paper should reveal much.

John's right: The second photo bears a strong resemblance to the cradle on a Martin, but it's been about ten years since I've had a peek at a 250 parts manual. By the way, Martin turret part numbers all begin with a "250-" prefix.

I'm certain someone who lurks here has the definitive answer for you.

Thanks guys,

I will try and get a closer look at them on the weekend.

Any thoughts on the origins of these items?

Hi Mike
I used to have a manuel for a TBM Avenger some years ago and some of those components including the armoured windscreen just look like Avenger turret parts?
The two rusty curved panels with a box section mount i would certainly say are B17 chin turret parts, i hope this is of some help.........colin

some optical gunsight filters, manual traversing controls & what looks to be turret tracking for maneuvering.
