Hello Folks:

I'm wondering if some of you could help look up some of these coordinates up on Terraserver.com. I think 90 ex Japanese airfields in Java. From photos; it looks like Java has sparsely populated areas, and there could be a possibility that these airfields and planes still exist.

From J aircraft.com:

How do we know that 10 people aren't looking up the identical location right now? If they start with #1 they may never get to the end of the list!

Sorry Chris but Java is surely not a sparsely populated area : Smallest of the 3 main Indonesian islands and more than 170.000.000 people.

By far the place with the smallest chance to find anything (at least above ground) of all places discussed so far.

Hi Laurent:

I was looking at pictures from Java, and it looks like the highly populated areas are in around the main cities. It looks like there might be something in the remote areas. Also, someone from an earlier post mentioned flying over Java and seeing a scrapyard.

Rob, give us specifics, what towns were the scrapyards in? Who told you they've been done away with.

Rob you never answered my question, does that mean it was unsubstianted hearsay?

If you're going to make me do an exhaustive search w/o a simple explaination, I'll take what you said as rumor or hearsay.

Chris - This may help a little. I found my notes of a post Tony made in Dec. '01. He had found an internet posting, somewhat in diary form, of a trip through the Pacific by a family. On March 30, they were to fly from Jakarta to Bali, 530 miles, filming volcanoes. He was running out of daylight, continued over jungle and spotted a graveyard of WWII aircraft, and ended up landing at what turned out to be a military airfield. Don't know if the airfield was where the graveyard was or not, but I don't think it implied they were at the same location. I am pretty sure this graveyard spotting was in March of '01.

Ok, looked at all of the B's, C, and Y's. The only good possibilities so far is Yang Plateau, and Bojolali. Bojolali is directly south of Semarang, and about 10 miles east of a smoking volcano. Yang Plateau is in rough terrain 10 miles S of the coast and 50 miles west of Bali.

Ok, now all the way through I, Ijang, and Yang Plateau are the same.

Out of all of these just the 2 mentioned above in previous post are the only ones away from population centers.
