Just an odd idea I wanted to throw out there. Many of us can't get to airshows because of the distance, money, transportation, etc.

I was thinking what if WIX had rented tour buses every so often that could pick people up at certain points of the country to go to an airshow like Reno, Chino, Geneseo, etc? Each passenger pay $50 or whatever and your all set.

Just a crazy idea.

Why not just go Greyhound? I'm sure you can meet all kinds of interesting folks on the bus...

Probably won't work, one reason; insurance. WIX would be acting as a defacto tour operator, I'd guess, and thus would have huge liability.

I think networking with others to share travel/lodging costs would be much easier, but that's just my opinion.

I'm actually considering taking a Greyhound to Geneseo this year. I can't really afford to fly that far and stay in a hotel plus rent a car and I won't trust my 97 Ford Contour with 150K miles on it to make it that far. :D It would make for an an interesting way to experience my first Geneso...

Well I didnt mean for WIX to own and run a tour bus but maybe get a company that would be interested in doing it from time to time. Again just a silly idea. Tricks are for kids.

Not a crazy idea at all Nathan! A Turbo Porter or a Gooney snatching up waiting pockets of WIXers in
their regionally placed CG-4's...now that would be a crazy idea!

Mrs. Mudge deals with bus lines every year for the 4th grade field trip. They go from Purcellville, VA to Jamestown and Yorktown, VA. That's about a 400 mile round trip. The cost per bus is about $1800 for that trip. The farther you go, the higher the price.
That being said...I seriously doubt that the bus idea is very viable. Sorry.
If you do a little research, you can isially find a plane ticket that you can afford. If you REALLY want to go, that is.
My ticket to PoF this year (IAD-ONT)was only $276 RT.
Research...research...research

Mudge the researcher :P

This is how WIX should "pick-up" it's members when head'in to a show..... (think Evergreen would let us borrow her??)

CAUTION: German Accents, Fist Fights, High-Speed Boat Chases, Gun Battles and Smoke'in Hot Moist Babes are completely optional,........................BUT RECOMMENDED :D

Maybe we could have a big WIX campout in the desert complete with all kinds of exhibits, artwork, performance art (airplanes flying), keggers...we could call it BURNING BILL and have a big bonfire at the end.  I kid, I kid....for those of you who didn't get it, go to http://www.burningman.com/ to see where I got the idea. No I've never attended.

How cool would it be to contact a museum or owner of a large warbird like a C-47and get a bunch of WIXer's to travel in style to Chino or Oshkosh or something.
