T-28's, can they operate from a grass field?

Hi,

I was wondering if T-28's can operate from grass fields?

If so, what are the standard condition takeoff and landing distances required for grass? For pavement?

Are they significantly different for an A model?

Yep

Several have operated with ease off a local grass strip that is 2,600' long.

the B/C with a small nose wheel is a challenge off the pavement..

The nose gear is the weak point of the a/c. It would be foolish
to try and operate off grass without the big low pressure tire of
the A or D models :idea:

The nose gear torsoin box is full of close tolerance fasteners *read very expensive to repair* that flog out real quick when operating a T28 from grass. I have seen this happen before. Not nice. T28's are lots of fun to fly

, but are a bit of an engineering nightmare, especially if not treated kindly.

On a positive note I understand grass absorbs some of the
out of balance washing machine sounds the motor makes :shock:

Out of balance, washing machine sound??? Dude, come spend time in Milwaukee with me. Harley sells that "potato, patato, patato" noise and knowing them, has it licensed. Better put NA on notice that an infringement suit is pending. (since sales tanked) :shock:
