Just thought I'd share some of my Uncle Mike's slides that I've scanned for him. He was in blimps and SNJ/T-28s as an engine mech. I'll get more particulars from him when he's over later, but here's a couple of my favorites. He was at Pensacola when the Blue Angels invaded. This shot of NAS Jax while taking off in an R4D is one of my favorites. Check out the different types on the ramp.

I've got a good 30 more or so. I'll have him fill in details. The Skyraider was a victim of "carrier quals" at I think Bermuda. The approach to the runway was at the edge of a steep cliff, so they'd have an LSO out there teaching carrier approaches.

Do you happen to know which carrier is in the shot?

Look at all the cool stuff on the ramp in the first picture.

JD-1
R-4D
F9F
SNJ
SNB
PBY
Banshees or Furys
Guardian
Neptune
and is that a TBM in front of the Neptune ?

Looks like an airshow , now you just get two flavors of Hornets.

Thanks for posting, looking forward to more.

All Kodachrome 64 I believe, taken with an Argus C3.

great pictures, would love to see the rest. really love that neptune shot. i just watched the twilight zone episode where the B-25 pilot crashes in the desert and sees jets flying above him. i am pretty sure that it was footage of those cougar blue angels.

These are nothing short of GORGEOUS, Rich. Would you have any more shots of that F9F-5P that the fellow is leaning on? Those things are rare as hen's teeth...

Thank you SO much for posting these... and please, PLEASE post more if you have'em!

Cheers, and happy 4th!

Lynn
