Back when I first visited the War Eagles Air Museum in the early 90s there was a second A-26 sitting outside the Museum. It disappeared at some point. Any idea the ID and/or where it went.

I was shocked to see 3 A-26s on that visit at Santa Teresa. 44-34526 stored behind a T-hangar, War Eagles flyer 44-35493, and the mystery bird.

Warbirds Directory shows A-26C msn 28784, 44-35505, N4815E at the War Eagles Air Museum outside waiting restoration 90/00. My photos in 91 show it with the sign " Restoration Project" next to the landing gear. So I can assume this is the one you asked about.

Yeah, and still regd. to Charles Bella of New Mexico. The third one should be the interesting one here. N4815E is one I have been looking for!

Bill,

Thank you very much that is it. Now I wonder where it is today?

Jim

P.S.: TJ - I bet the Bella plane is still sitting at the end of the T-hangars as it has been every time I've been to Santa Teresa.

FAA site shows N4815E, Owner: registration pending, Location: Chino, CA.
This does not necessisrily mean the aircraft is located thiere.

Here's a photo from Santa Teressa, NM October 1994. The Invader is unmarked and I've been trying to identify this frame for years.

Is this the same unknown Invader we are talking about?

In reply to my own question; i believe the depicted A-26 is the one currently on display at the museum. Note the canopy style / white colors and then check these photos from the museum's website:

No I think that is my second mystery Invader. By 1994 the flyer was in the hangar. Did you go inside and see a second plane on that trip?

I was always convinced that the website mixed both planes up. Notice how your pic only matches the project plane and not really the flyer.

Jim

P.S.: Bill as for the FAA registration...I think that predates the plane in NM. The date listed in 1977.

This is my 1st try at submitting photos thru photobucket.

The 1st and 2nd photos were taken at War Eagles Museum on July 10, 1991.
The one in the hangar is 44-35493, the one outside is the one I think is 44-35505.

The 3rd and 4th photos were taken October 10, 1991 at Santa Theresa but not at War Eagles Museum of On-Mark Conversion 44-34526.

I hope the pics get posted.
