Fleet Air Arm Museum photos

Wed Feb 09, 2005 5:06 pm

A lovely day out at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, as always a superb place to visit. The lighting is challenging but a museum wouldn’t be a museum if it wasn’t and its nothing that a little time and effort can put right on the day.
Photos starting with the First World War and moving onto WWII the Concorde exhibit. We ran out of time so couldn’t go round the Carrier, that pleasure will have to wait for another visit.

Nice ! I visited back in 1985 and I can't recall any WW1 aircraft on display. I do remember seing some Harriers parked over the fence, Yeovil still an active FAA base ?

They have had a major shake up at the museum since 85 including the addition of the WW1 section and the Carrier exhibition which unfortunately we didnt have time to go around.

Yeovilton is still an active Fleet Air Arm base with Sea Harriers (to be retired shortly) Sea Kings and Lynx. They have a viewing area in the museum which looks directly out onto one of the aircraft aprons.

"Grand Day Out"?

That's a bit Wallace and Grommet isn't it?

Sorry, the way I take that is "I find you funny, you are a Northerner!"
