The brilliant folks compiling lists for the censorship packages also have MustangsMusangs listed for the same "reason"

That stuff is automated. Companies, and probably the gubmint, have a subscription. For all anyone knows WIX, MustangsMustangs and anyone else is getting a periodic automated scan from NetNanny, or something like that. Any bad word, no matter how silly, will get you on the list. If the enduser wants, they can whitelist you, but they probably won't.

Do companies really still try to automate this? Any company that produces censorship products that build their block lists automaticly deserve to go out of business, as automated black lists are totally worthless. The classic trap is a site about the USS Essex, as you get a matching substring and suddenly your aircraft carrier site is classified as "adult content"

I am pretty sure that it varies from base to base. I'm lucky that, at Moody AFB I can still get to the WIX. Unfortunately, mustangsmustangs.net is classified as "sex" and blocked....

It's automated by some 3rd party, as mentioned. I'm sure as hell not going to go to the administrator and ask that it be un-blocked, though! I'd rather just curse and shake my head that the USAF IT folks are retarded.

Holy cow !

so when talking about nicknames on aircraft and possibly adding pictures with Varga (or similar) artwork - we fall into this category ?

That's downright ridiculous !

we sure live in a strange world !!!

It's easier, and it also better, legally, to use an outside source. The only good way to do it internally is the old, DENY ALL, ALLOW 1-2, and so on. The problem with that is that none of the employees know wether or not they need something, until its too late, like in the middle of a demo. And, if Mary Lou sees something disturbing, she still sues you because you didn't do enought. If you're using a service, you can pass that buck on over to Net Nanny or Smart Filter.

Hey Guys:

We are taking this way out of context, and making ourselves look very very silly. The military has very high security, and has very strict access requirements for the internet. I think mustangsmustangs must have been the victim of a keyword to an unacceptible site.

O.P., I wasn't refering to the compainies who use such products, rather those responsible for creating/maintaining the lists and the software.

I can vouch for "umbrella" classifications by goverment IT departments - I can't get to anything with "aircraft" and "crash" in the URL from work (State govt) because it falls into the "gruesome content" classification.

Thats cool! I know what you mean. At the very least, it's a never ending bad job for those guys. One of those damned if you block it, damned if you don't. It would be impossible to do it by hand, so they use robots. But when you try to get off of their master list, it's pretty much impossible, thats what really makes me mad about them.
