Anyone out there know what ever happened to Jerry Janes "Cottonmouth Albatross" N97HU? The last I saw it was for sale at Courtesy last year.

What is the thing with Janes and "Cottonmouth"? That was the name on both P-51D and Fury as well! Does he work as a snake charmer when not flying nice airplanes???

Cottonmouth is the name of a snake that inhabits the swamps of Lousiana, where Jerry is from originally. In addition to the Albatross, Mustang and Sea Fury named "CottonMouth", he used to have a Harvard called "Honeysuckle" and an AT-11 named "Swamp Chicken".

Jerry is easily one of the most colorful people in the Warbird community. It wouldn't be hard to fill a book with stories about him and the things he's done! He's definately one of the people that make life on this planet fun.

I wouldn't be surprised if he could charm snakes!!

Didn't Jerry have a Tacker/Trader at one time? He currently owns a Beech 18 that he's working on and an AN2. I may be wrong on this, but I think his wife owned a Chipmunk at one time and his son owns a T-28. I've also heard that he owned a Sabre.

In the hangar where he keeps his aircraft, he had a strange looking twin engine aircraft, engines looked like Rangers with a tail that looked like an aircoupe. I can't remember off hand what it was but it looked ex-mil, possibly a medivac.

I am pretty sure it was Janes that had the Tracker/Trader at Breckenridge one year. He was getting some training and did a bunch of touch-n-goes one day. I was hanging around some of the Lone Star Flight Museum guys and we pulled out landing "score cards" and gave him a low score. He wasnt smilin when he taxied by!!!

The airplane had been spray painted with the name "Crud Missile"!!!

BLR..The "twin-eng. bird" you're describing...I believe is a Fairchild AT-21,
now owned by Cvairworks..we're waiting for him to post piccies..when he
has time from his busy schedule!! AT-21's were contracted by Bellanca
and McDonnell...Cvairworks has the last one and it's a Bellanca example.
AT-21's were built using the Duramold process.

I don't think it was a Fairchild AT-21, seems to me it was of European descent. I'll check tonight when I'm home.

I remember the "Crud Missile" from Breckenridge 91, and yes it was Wiley Sanders who flew it. If it hadn't been for him the show would have been pretty slim that year. Those score cards also came out pretty quickly when the P-38 and (Super?)T-6 arrived on the Friday. Guess which a/c got the highest... That was an impressive arrival. In between those nice Texas afternoon thunder showers the two planes manouvered around dark treathening clouds in almost every direction. You could have had Wagner playing, Robert Duvall smelling "napalm in the morning", and still it would have made perfect sense. A friend and I ran out to the speaker's tower (or whatever it was) next to the runway and these two planes buzzed us before taxing in to receive their well earned score!

Speaking of Traders, here's a shot i took of the Saratoga's C-1 Bu No 136759 at NS Mayport, FL in 1977. My step-dad was the ship flight surgeon and
frequently flew as co-pliot. Anyone know what became of her??? BTW the Forrestal's C-1A was based here also and named "The Happy Hooker".

you stated, "No, to an AT-21"..I was flummuxxed!! I still had my mind
