Afriend of mine was stationed on Guam in the 1974-76 timeframe. He was about to come home when the Saigon refugees started coming in on the C-141s. I sent the Guam page to him and this is his response regarding the B-29 crewman.

Thanks for the Guam E-mail, the crew member they mention was found while i was there and still had his side arm in its holster. It was still in good condition and was removed before the find was reported.
