When I flew into Vancouver today, I realized I was scheduled with a 3 hour layover. I checked the board, found an earlier flight and was rescheduled with a bonus 2 hours added to my afternoon in Seattle!

I did a quick drive by at Boeing field. I noted the B-47 is parked back on the ramp where I saw it last April (north of the control tower on the west side). It looks great! It has recently received a new coat of paint and is rather impressive. Unfortunately getting a picture will be difficult since there is much equipment between the airframe and the closest public viewable location. I’ll go by a few more times this week, so hopefully things will get moved around and I will be able to get come pics.

I then went for a drive up to Everett to visit the Me-262 Project at Paine Field. I didn’t take a tour, just wanted to chat. As was mentioned last week on WIX, the lady at the Me-262 Project mentioned White 1 did a gear-up flight. The gear was retracted and extended a number of times without issue. The landing went without problem as well. The lady at the office joked that they started breathing again once it had landed! ;-) Anyway… apparently Tango Tango is ready for taxi trials which will probably take place this week and possibly next. I think it depends on having good weather and the pilot at Paine Field at the same time. White 1 may also be due for another flight. Tango Tango won’t go for a test flight until it is painted, which it is just about ready for. When ever I get a chance I’ll be making trips up to Paine Field this week. Maybe I’ll get lucky and see a Me-262 outside.

After leaving the Me-262 project I drove to the opposite side of the field and took a public tour of the Boeing production facility. I saw a 747 ready to go out the doors, one with the wings assembled to the center section, and another starting assembly. Not warbirds, but still very interesting. I would recommend it if you are in the area.

Gotta sign off for the night. It has been a long day.

Regards,

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Sounds like you are having way to much fun, I thought this was working trip  :D

Sssshhhh.... Don't tell my boss!  Another bonus was that I was supposed to get a mid-size rental, they were out and I got a nice red Mustang! Wooo Hooo!

The work starts today, and if it is anything like the last trip I will be busy.

I am sure there are more reports to come.

Mike
