RAF Far East T-6s

We're toying with the idea of an alternative paint scheme for the T-6 and one thought was an RAF scheme, not the usual brown and green, but the rather different scheme used by the RAF in the Far East, Burma etc.

Does anyone out there have any photos or colour scheme details available? Any details would be most welcome as we're currently rather in the dark!

Although it is a "brown and green" colour scheme and not an RAF scheme, I have always found the RNZAF Harvard trainer colours very attractive.

It's certainly an interesting scheme, but is still a T-6 in green, brown and yellow which has been done many, many times before. We're just looking to do something different. Did any T-6s wear the similar markings to the RAF SEAC P-47s?

i'm not up on RAF SEAC aircraft but this Harvard operates in Australia in RAF desert colours representing an RAF aircraft allocated to the Australian 3 Squadron in the Middle East.

& then there is always the RNZAF or SAAF post war colours

I think the RAF brown and green would be pretty unique on a T-6.

What color is the Far East scheme your thinking of?

The standard RAF markings of brown, green and yellow have been done to death over here in recent years. I'd just like to try something a bit different.

There was at least one in service in Burma, nice camo scheme.

Yeah, would be an interesting scheme. If anyone has a photo or profile of a China/Burma/India RAF T-6 I'd love to see it.

IIRC one of the Harvard Display team aircraft was in SEAC colours, or I may be confusing it with the Beech 18 that used to follow them around in the late '80s.

I'll keep my eyes open, but no schemes have appeared in the first could of refs I've checked, sorry.

Thanks James,

The HFT Beech 18 was in SEAC markings. The nearest scheme on a T-6 was a desert marked example.

Thought it looked a bit fat for a Harvard.
