Grab your hatchets boys...looks like it's tea-dumpin' time. :?

“Since the initial release of 8F, EAA has received numerous calls and e-mails from members who have experienced restrictions and outright refusal to access their aircraft when away from their home airport,” said Doug Macnair, EAA vice president of government relations. “We have heard horror stories, of airport personnel erroneously refusing access, lack of an available escort, and of pilots having to scale airport fences or otherwise circumvent supposed security measures just to gain access to their personal aircraft. If pilots and aircraft owners aren’t supposed to be on general aviation ramps, we don’t know who is.

Seems like no one will be happy until we have one half of the population employed by the Government to watch over the other half of the population.

I got the AOPA online update this morning and it appears that a revised TSA edict has been issued. The new directive is SD-8G and is slightly less restrictive than 8F. Here is a link to the AOPA article:
http://www.aopa.org/advocacy/articles/2 ... 28tsa.html

As it says, be aware of the changes that go into effect on June 1.

Thanks for that, Scott.

Well, this should be very entertaining: About 400 different unknown airports affected (TSA won't publish a list), with the potential of 400 different versions of alternative plans to badges...

Who on earth thinks up this stuff?

Yeah. If I read it correctly, on June 1 you still need a badge if you hangar at an airport with scheduled passenger service. Transients get cut just a tiny bit of slack. We fly up to McCook, Nebraska frequently. They have a commuter that hauls probably ten people a day, but the rules seem to be the same there as they would be at ORD or LAX.

Be careful next week, everyone.

So every corporate/commercial pilot calls in sick, and EVERY pilot in the country flies to an airport without an ID badge. What are they gonna do, with all the air transport system closed down? Can they put us all in jail?

AOPA Article

About 400 airports are affected, but a list has not been released. AOPA continues to work to obtain a list of those airports.

In the absence of an official list of affected airports, pilots are encouraged to devote some extra time to their preflight planning. Make sure you call ahead to your home and destination airports to get up to speed on the latest security procedures.

Don't fly here but we won't tell you where here.

I wonder how many FBO's and hanger operators will fold if the GA pilots leave those 400 secret airports?

Madness

DHS Secretary Napolitano applauds your creative and patriotic suggestion.

it is easy to show the TSA who is in charge, refuse to comply, if the majority of the airports stood thier ground and refused to comply with a unfunded mandate, they could not enforce it.

Oh and to all the pilots this would affect, now you know how us gun owners have been feeling for years.

Oh it started long before that. We live in the era when bureaucracies and politicians are convinced their power and "wisdom" are unlimited. I have to geal with the TSA daily and that is drepressing. Unfortuunatley we "ain't seen nothin yet!".
