Warbird Information Exchange

The June 2009 Desktop Calendars are now available from the Warbird Depot website; http://www.warbirddepot.com/desktop_calendars.asp along with new Mobile Phone Wallpapers; http://www.warbirddepot.com/photo_mobile_wallpapers.asp.

This month includes:

1. Keith Houston flying the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s rare Fairey Firefly AS Mk.6 enroute to the 2008 Brantford Airshow. The Firefly is painted as VH142/BD-G of No. 825 RCN Squadron which served on the carrier HMCS Magnificent in the 1950's. Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's Flyfest will be held on June 20 and 21, 2009.

2. Chris Woods flying his N.A. P-51D Mustang "February", with the Collings Foundation's N.A TP-51C Mustang flying in trail at the 2007 Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in Columbus, OH.
3. CAF Memphis Squadron's Hawker Sea Fury FB.11, being flown by Dr. David Peeler, during a Warbird Digest photo shoot at AirVenture 2007. This years event will be held on July 27 - August 2, 2009.
4. Rod Lewis' Grumman F7F-3N Tigercat "Here Kitty, Kitty!" during a memorable warbird aerobatic display flown by Steve Hinton at the 2009 Planes of Fame Airshow in Chino, CA.
5. The Yellow Rose Squadron of the Commemorative Air Forces' N.A. B-25J Mitchell "Yellow Rose" over the Texas oil fields at the 2004 FINA-CAF Airshow in Midland, TX.
6. The Planes of Fame Air Museum's newly painted Curtiss P-40N Warhawk, being flown by Robbie Patterson, at the 2009 Planes of Fame Airshow in Chino, CA.
7. Paul Kissmann flying the Vintage Wings of Canada's Goodyear FG-1D Corsair at the 2008 Classic Air Rallye in Rockliffe, Ontario.
8. The Horsemen, Jim Beasley (Lead), Dan Friedkin (Right Wing) and Ed Shipley (Left Wing) performing in Grumman F8F Bearcats at the 2009 Planes of Fame Airshow in Chino, CA.
9. Christophe Jacquard taking off in his Griffin powered, counter-rotating Supermarine Spitfire PR Mk 19 at the 2008 Flying Legends Airshow in Duxford, England. This years event will be held on July 11 and 12, 2009.
10. Walter "Bud" Fountain taxiing his Grumman F8F-2P (BuNo 121787) at the 1973 Reno National Championship Air Races in Reno, NV.
11. An Emirates Airline Boeing 777-200LR landing on runway 28R at San Francisco International Airport.
12. Unlimited Class PRS Instructor/Check Pilot Stu Eberhardt taxiing out in his N.A. P-51D Mustang "Merlin's Magic" during the Reno Air Race Association's 2008 Pylon Racing Seminar in Reno, NV. This years PRS will be held June 17 - 20, 2009.

NOTE: The dates for the 2009 Thunder over Michigan Airshow were changed to July 18 and 19 after the 2009 Warbird Depot calendar was printed. Please refer to http://yankeeairmuseum.org/airshow/ .
