Greetings
I was wondering.............Is their a chance that one might get to see more than one 4 Engine Bomber at the Show ? I would hope that that Texas Raiders will be flying by then :D and she can join Thunder Bird ! Dose anybody have a idea if other Big Iron might be attending ?

Ol' 927 has it on her schedule. Only the oldest flying four engine bomber.

I have heard that the invitation list has shrunk this year, even though last year was a big success. My understanding is this is due to the loss of 300 feet of ramp space due to construction at the Coast Guard hangar.

Anyone hear more, or if this is true?

There are some changes to Ellington and the ramp space has shrunk a little. If I recall correctly parking is going to be more interesting too.
There is a difference between "invited" and attending.
Wings Over Houston is fortunate to have a number of warbirds and performers "volunteer"...

Here's the inside scoop... keep it under your hat...
This year's show has the longest performance schedule ever.
The flying is scheduled to start earlier than ever.

The BLUE ANGELS are the headliner Military act this year... First time back for them since WAAAAAY back before my time around the CAF.

It is our goal to have TEXAS RAIDERS at Ellington in the show.
(But if it is not right we are not going to fly it.)

In the past, there have been many warbirds who have wanted to come to WOH on their own nickel, but were told to stay home as there wasn't enough ramp space. Some were there last year, on their own money, but have not heard that they would be welcomed back this year. Some weren't there last year, but got letters saying they could come this year, but would have to park on the transient ramp. The reason given is the incredible shrinking ramp.

I heard rumors last year that they are looking for another airfield to hold the WOH show at. Hopefully that will happen soon as it seems EFD is squeezing the show out.

I do wonder about that. I wonder if the ramp issue has to do with code rather than space. There seemed to be a fair amount of space in some areas that could've been used. For instance, our L-5 would've easily fit over near the reenactors.

Sure would be nice to see a F22 @ Ellington, I've never seen one yet.

We WERE supposed to have the F-22 but due to military budget cuts the Raptor is doing one airshow a month. SO now we get the F-15E, A-10E, C-17, and AV-8B which I am not complaining about. I would rather have 2 ACC Demos over one any day, and both the A-10 and F-15E use pyro hahaha. Now onto warbirds besides Ol 927 would be nice to see Maid in the Shade show up from Arizona! What other birds are on the list? This is the 25th Anniversary and CAF is the sole sponsor ala no Ron Carter so they should get every plane they could get and find a way to fit them in!

The dates are etched in STONE!

Oct. 31 and Nov. 1st...

Ryan... I agree that the ramp looked a little sparse and had plenty of room for visiting Warbirds.
Don't have any say in such matters because I have purposely focussed on the B17 rather than conquering the great world of Air Shows.

One would hope there is room for anyone who wants to show off a plane even if they cannot necessarily let you fly in the BIG PARADE in the sky.

There are insurance issues with that and things like formation card requirements and probably other stuff I don't EVEN know about.

IF there is interest I would like to have a WIX get together at some point.
If it were in conjunction with our traditional Sat. night Gulf Coast Wing dinner at the local Texican Restaurant it would still be a good time for all!

Viva Warbirds!

Hmmm. Hope things go well this year. I guess the Carter folks are feeling the pinch?

Too early to say on the Main sponsorship other than it is not Ron Carter this year. I hope they come back because they are great folks to work with.
There are always other (co- or sub or whatever they are called) sponsors at Airshows, but the Main Sponsor puts the most in the pot and gets the marquee.

Back to the salt mines...

Yes Ron Carter is hurting, I dont see his add as much anymore either. And for the WIX gettoger Spanner which Texican Resteraunt is it? I think it would be a great idea. And I think this years show will be just as succesful! Last years crowds were crazy and with the trend in Airshows I think this years can be just as big!! I am taking all 3 days off again, Fri I will be in my spot (till I get kicked out by the cops LOL) watching arrivals, Sat hopefully in the Photo Pit (pending they have that) and Sun I will be with my parents so thats 3 days of airshow! I cannot wait till October!

I just learned, at our wing meeting last night, that the P-39 has been invited back this year! I suppose the U-11 support ship will have to park in transient parking and not fly the show though.
