I may have an opportunity to visit one or both of these in the near future. For those who have been:

1) Are they easy/hard for a traveller to get to (or into)?
2) Are they worth checking out?

From what I can tell online, the Indonesian AF Museum may have more to offer than the Malay, but thought I'd just check and see what anyone here at the WIX braintrust thought.

Is there anything else interesting to see aviation-wise in/near Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur?

Thanks in advance.

In Jakarta there is a museum by the name of;

Satria Mandala, which is an army based museum but includes aircraft. Do a Google type search for details and see if it interests you.

The Air Force Museum you mention is in Yogyakarta which is about 270 miles S.S.E of Jakarta. About 9 hours by road! A lot quicker by air!

It has been too many years since I visited Indonesia to offer comments on the current status of the museums, sorry.

Hope this is of some help.

Thanks very much! It'll be my first trip to either, so any insights are helpful.

I visited the Malaysian AF Museum a couple of years back. Easy to get to by cab en-route from the airport at Kuala Lumpur. A few interesting airframes, nothing spectacular, but worth the trip if you're in the area.

From a Malaysian friend:

Quote:
The RMAF Museum might be worth seeing but there is no long history to the Malaysian Air Force. It only goes back to the '60s...
