Hi all, Jeff,33 from VT, USA here. Long time Warbird lover, got my 1st ride when I was 8 months in dads C-140. Aircraft mech by trade for the airlines (yuk, but its where the money is) Nothing finer than Radial Noise. Co-owner of a 1940 NAF N3N-3 with my father. He has owned it since 1968 and 1st flew in 77. Uncle has a BT-13, 3 Beech 18's, D17S Staggerwing.......so i've been around them all my life. looking foreward to reading some interesting posts and maybe helping out.

LOL..........well there is so much to read, been here for like 2 hrs now.....just finnished the posts on the Lady Be Good and the pics......I think my father knows the guy that took the guns out of her that is pictured in those pics!!! My father has some pics, but none of those look familiar. He has one of a guy looking at one of the .50's from the top turret. My dad was EOD in the USAF also.....so maybe he wants to talk with him. Its also funny, a good friend of my fathers is Richard Hurd, he was the wing commander of the unit that the Lady was in. He is mentioned in the book about the bomber. Dick is from vt and I have been to his house a few times. His next assignment was base commander at Westover Mass training B-24 crews. Unfortunatly one of his airplanes hit a mountain here in VT. Some of it is still there, been to it twice in my life but its badly scattered down the back side of the mountain.
I got a few pieces of her here and there.

Hi Jeff and welcome to WIX. I almost mentioned WIX to you on sunday, but I got talking with Chase and Brooks. I didn't think of it after since the meeting went "so well".

Just a heads up, on April 30th a group of New England WIX'ers are getting together at NEAM for the day. It would be great if you could shake yourself loose and come down and join us. I know it's quite a haul for you but it would still be great if you could come.

I will check my schedule for April and see if I can make it. I had thought about going to bradley for a long time. I havent been to the museum in ages. At the time, their corsair was still under restoration. I also remember a T-33 sitting out infront of the Holiday inn. I got to stay there on an overnight trip that I did when I was 13. I flew with a friend of mine on an overnight freight run from Burlington vt to hartford conn in a C-47. My uncle was DOM for a freight co that had 7 of them. All we painted in their origional WW2 markings. One of them was N54NA, she flew June 6th and was still complete, with radio & nav tables, jump bells and lights!! The company just took out the troop seats when she arrived in the USA for the 1st time since ww2. My friend was FO and after take off, he let me slip into the right seat where I stayed until we shut down. What a trip of a lifetime!!!! Many years later I would see mitch at a tail wheel fly in here in vt where again, I was riding in a DC-3. He came running out, and marshalled us in and when he looked up and had seen me stick my head out the window, this time in the left seat, he went nuts!!!
Few yrs later, he was killed in a car accident hauling a load of stearman engines, Bruce, the pilot who flew B-29's during the war, died of cancer. Also about the same time, N54NA was bought by a new owner and was destroyed in a crash on her ferry flight.

You'll find that this board consists of a real solid group of people who are very knowledgeable and friendly (nine times out of ten).

Yes the meeting got a bit heated, but things needed to be said and I think probably we are better off for getting them out in the open.

Oh durn. I remember that bird. It used to fly over the house here on it's way into Lebanon N.H.. I never knew what became of her. Sorry to hear she is gone now. Seriously consider the April trip. I met up with some of these guy's at Nashua N.H. last year (same weekend as Bullseye) and we had a great time. I think museums are more fun when you can go with friends and if you have not been there in awhlie then it's time for you to go. Besides, you should check out how the B-29 is coming along.

On another note, one of the 7 C-47's that they had is forsale on ebay motors right now. N58NA. She is still in her markings that we painted in the mid 80's. Probably unknown to the owner. Hawwka stands for "Eider Duck" in Dutch.

Al and I belong to the Green mountain military vehicle club. we have meetings every month. besides airplanes, i am into military vehicles. where i own 6 trucks totaling 54 tires!!

Tim, Jeff and I are both members of the Green Mountain Military Vehicle Club (GMMVC) and have know each other for some time. There has been some tension brewing over some internal matters for awhile now and it finally came out in the open last sunday. A tempest in a teapot really, but being left unsaid made things look a lot bigger than they really were. The issues have not all been resolved yet by any means, however they have been put into some perspective.

You should see Jeffs deuce and a half. It's a sweet ride.

Jeff, post some piccies on the Off Topics board.
