O.K., gotta ask. So where is the Griffon going, or is that a secret?

The Griffon was for a Shackleton. As Jack said, it's going to another WIXer, but I don't know if it's a secret or not, so I'll just leave it up to him to say. It's basically just gonna be used as a spare for an old airplane that he's got, so it was nice to see the engine going to a good home.

Excitement. I remember that. :D

Just for anyone still wondering, it's a Rolls Royce Griffon (contraprop type) from an Avro Shackleton, not a Napier Sabre from a Hawker Typhoon.

Cheers,

You could be on to something Gary-'tonight, live from the STRATOLINA Ballroom and lounge the sweet sounds of Dink Winkersons orchestra' Dining, a lounge, a dance floor under the starboard wing.......perhaps a small casino under the left wing. HMMMMM

No need for more rudder on the race plane, contra rotation, torque cancelling, please put that MERLIN under cover, the old boat racer in me wants to drag it to the lakes edge and go racing-I hate seeing V-12's out in the weather, like the cord wood pile of engines Mr. Edwards has on his ramp, thats seriously messed up!

Actually, it's another Griffon, not a Merlin. And it's already "cord wood." That's the way I got it. The plan is to someday turn it into a cutaway engine for display.

Oh, and Connie has all of his Merlin stuff inside now. No more stuff laying out on the ramp. :-)

Gary,
Ashame Bob Wills isn't around to write a song about you. I'm sure the Navaho and Pony would have been with you if they weren't across the alley from the Alamo.

Gary,
Since the Griffons are no longer an option, just what else do you have in the way of spare engines that you can use on the Stratolina?

It also sounds like you've been back over to Connie's place recently (at least since the nice big post with all of the photos of his place...) Did you happen to remember to get some new photos of the 4th Goose (the OTHER one in his hangar besides the JRF-6B in the "original" British paint scheme) for me?

Don't worry about it if you forgot about that; it's no big deal. I've just been curious about it since it appears to have the McKinnon retractable wingtip float mod and I was wondering what other mods it might have.
