USAF wheel Id??

This wheel has us puzzled. Can anyone Id the type? B25, p38,P61????

What size it it? Any number on it, as that could help to id it.

I have asked him to check it again for numbers.. From what he tells me it is about the size of a nosewheel like B24 or something..

I ca make out the following..
Static load 5000 lb's

CAATC 97 or is it GAAG97?
NLE? 37X 7?
Ass No 33
serial# looks like 235 5 -4148
size is 30 x7

It's definitely not a nosewheel tire from a B-24 (or B-29, which is the same wheel). However, the main tire on a P-38 is the same size as the nosewheel on the 24 or 29, but I can't for the life of me, remember if the P-38 uses a drum brake like the one pictured. I'm wanting to say it doesn't, but I just can't recall right now.

The P-38 used disc brakes, the main wheels are the same size as the A-26 nose wheel, 36in 10ply, the nose is a 27in 6 ply.

Because it uses a drum brake I would rule out anything heavy and high performance. It might be off of something like a C-45, UC-78, or something simular.

Hi all , if it is a 27 in it could be a late P40 wheel , early P40s used 30 and 27 inch wheels and drum brakes.
