Hi all,
Is there a market for WW2 Wildcats? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

I could easily be wrong but I think that Courtesy aircraft had one for 1M or more a while ago - a Wildcat is a rare animal

Since the Navy has released only 3 Wildcats. 2 from Lake Michigan and 1 (N20HA)from the museum the other recoveries have had no impact on the warbird market.
The Wildcat is perfect for the enter-level warbird ie fighter operator. No systems just basic airframe and engine combo.

Jack hit the nail on the head: simple aircraft with simple systems and comparatively low maintenance--like a big retract gear cropduster.

Purely speculation, but I think a big question mark for entry-level operators would still be the narrow landing gear. What was the old line, "The question isn't IF you'll groundloop a Wildcat, but WHEN". :wink:

Thanks for the comments. So if these are rare items, and there seems to be a market, where does one start marketing them, i.e for sale ads for old warbirds?

The wildcat is a great fighter and it uses the P&W 1830 which may allow it to fly longer if they stop making the 100LL.

Inless they are FM-2's which are more common and use the Wright R-1820, similar to the engine in a T-28B/C/D.

Thats cool. Where did they come from? The only thing I can think of is spraying birds, like the ones on Ron Olsen's site.
