Interesting, I never noticed the elevators work independent of each other.

A lot of the newer, "Computer Controlled" AC have been going to that configuration. I seem to recall wondering on that one while watching "Top Gun", aside from the silly story line and goofy acting, there was a LOT of nice aerial photography of pointy, kerosene burning warbirds!
And for an EXTRA pony, what was the first production aircraft to have independently operating elevators (or stabilator)
