Musée de L'Air He 162 delivered by Memorial Flight

The last edition of "Fana de l'Aviation", one of the best french mags on historical aviation, published a big article (11 pages full of photos) about the recent restoration of the Musée de l'Air He162. This was made by Memorial Flight (http://memorial.flight.free.fr) and it is simply magnific.

The engine was declared flight ready (although not run, because of it's historical value and rarity) and you can see a film of the rear cone working at their website.

This restoration finally brought to life several important details about it's original painting and markings and found it's true identity WrNr 120015.

The quality of the work, dedication and care given to this restoration is truly something to marvel.


And so, there's one more motive to visit Le Bourget!

Very cool. Very, very rare bird indeed. Looks like they did a wonderful restoration job, just how much did they have to start from and how much did they have to build from scratch? Being that these aircraft were built to be nearly "Disposable", though I guess a lot of their AC were at that point of the war. If they lasted a month, they were OLD!

a fantastic job has been done on this aircraft. they recovered the genuine paintings, many parts are working (landing gear, engine cone...).

After WWII. This aircraft was given by the english to the french for testing.
I met the guys from memorial flight who told me they won't display this aircraft at the MAE until they have a proper place for it. they mean, the bird is mainly made of wood, so the place for display must have a constant temperature and humidity. Perhaps now they found this place !!!

It's always sad to see unique aircrafts being put in museums, after restoration, either on chocks (no more pics outside) or hanging on the ceiling (photoscopes impossible).

So it is great to learn that this beautifully restored He-162 will be properly hangared

Wow, what a nice restoration !

Will take a long time before our example at the National Aviation Museum of Canada looks that nice. At the last news, it is still in storage, waiting restoration...
