That would be Jack Croul's 44-73420.
Thank you for sharing these great photos, Jack! I don't think you can get a Merlin to look any better than this.

Yes, take a piece of gold about the same weight, comparing the motor and see which is worth more.

An interesting thought A2C... I took a look, just for grins.
A dry Merlin 61, according to Wiki, weighs 1640lb.
The current value for gold bullion (as in today) is US$1097/ounce....
so a Merlin made of gold would be $28,785,280.00.
I hadn't expected it would be that much! That being said, I think I'd rather pay for the normal Merlin. Merlins are heavy!
Cheers,
Richard

The most I have heard of was a fresh Roush overhaul, $150,000.00 with no Core turn in.
that kind of money will still buy you a nice house in most places.
Or you could buy a very nice Bonanza/Baron...

Beautiful work! Brings back memories of long nights screwing engines together for the boat back in the late 60's. Rounding up every long, thin screwdriver in the shop to compress the rings on the blower drive snout because only the BUDWEISER team had the correct phenolic compressor and they wouldn't loan it to anyone.
Also makes the burn scar on my left forearm itch where I encountered a REALLY hot exhaust header pipe while doing plugs between heats.
The question becomes, how is JR able to reproduce/manufacture parts when, in the past a bus load of RR lawyers would descend on your race shop with 'cease and desist' paperwork if they found out you were making a gasket from sheet stock and calling it 'paytent infringementing'?
Still believe you can fly an ALLISON futher than you can ship a MERLIN-

my guess his lawyers are meaner than their lawyers.......

Because it is a Packard, not a Rolls Royce? Also, since the aircraft is certified in the Limited category, I think a PMA applies just like for a Lycoming or Continental.
One could also argue that he isn't selling duplicate parts, but improved parts.

This was purchased has a fresh overhaul.
After the failure Roush's crew did a autopsy and found it full of worn out/time expired components.
TG no one got hurt
After Rousch's guys have worked their magic this baby is now truly a fresh overhaul
