There's an F-84 straight wing for sale w/o engine , and curious to know if there what blow torches that could be fitted and what optimum GPH they run at.

Interesting, I know of no airworthy straight or swept wing F-84s out there. Would definitely be a cool project for the right pocketbook.

I have always been curious why so many different aircraft shared the Republic F-84 designation. Most of the aircraft are different enough not to be considered anywhere remotely the same other than the time frame built and the manufacturer.

Those run a J-35 which I think is shorter than the J-47 which was a later outgrowth.

So we're talking at least 300 GPH to fly an F-84. Curious to know if there is a modern day substitute that puts out about 5000 lb of thrust?

Just answered my own question, it could probably fly with an L-39 engine w/ 3700 lb thrust 150-180 gph.

It's quite possible to use a Curtis Wright J-65 like we have in our A-4. Thrust is 7700 lbs with a -16. David
