Lou and john Mitchell planned the Yamamoto mission and Lou flew has 2nd in commando bringing along a bunch of his 70th FS pilots.
Lou and I fished and crabbed quite a bit from his fishing boat ported in Yaquina Bay in New Port.

That is cool stuff Jack. I love the storeies and pics of the P-39 in combat. As for non regulation stuff on the pacific islands, it seems rules were pretty laid back on some things. Such as what they wore and so on.

As in today's military ... it all depends on your C.O. Combat has a tendency to focus on the issue at hand (Guns, Ammo and using both to achieve victory) All other aspects tend to fade into the background.

That was to get a good fit on his oxygen mask. Lou also designed a hard helemt diving
set up on Christmas Island and used it to explore the lagoon there. He was an amazing
guy but a boatload of smarts. Someday I'll tell ya'll about our salmon fiahing with Rex Barber,
Bill Harris, George Chandler, Paul Bechtel and Bill Leverett 8)
