Canvas for Guns, What's the best to use?

Fri Dec 11, 2009 3:22 am

Question tonight.

I am sewing new canvas for around our tail guns and waist guns. I have a couple different military grade OD Canvas', but I was wondering what do others of you use? Is there a commercial OD canvas material that is out there, with UV protection, thicker material and a longer service life? I think ours lasts a couple years.

Curious if anyone else has come across this issue with a happy ending with their product?

Thanks
Dave

as for canvas it will dry rot if exposed to the weather & sun if unprotected over time. i'd recommend a good waterproofer w/ uv filters such as the starbrite brand which i have sold to boaters for years. it's been my #1 seller for canvas care for a long time. otherwise, while it lacks authenticity you may want to try a kevlar type material now used for sail boat sails.
