"Maude" P-40E for sale...

Mon Sep 09, 2013 11:08 am

Don't think I have seen this posted yet.
Also known as AK803 or RCAF 1034. Quite a time capsule for the buyer.

Can't wait to see where this one ends up! I know many will disagree but I would love to see it flying again.

Was this the P-40 that was found unassembled in its original packing crate in the 1980s?

I'm not a Canadian, but that bird needs to stay in Canada, hopefully in a Museum. I'm all for flying warbirds, but this one is a time capsule better preserved as is for the future.

I like that idea. There are lots of flying P-40s around, many practically built from scratch. Unmodified, original "Time capsule" machines like this are so rare these days they should be preserved. The idea of stripping this one down and rebuilding it with modern systems and avionics seems like a travesty.

+1. I would love to see it in a large Canadian museum like the National Aviation Museum in Ottawa, Canadian Warplane Heritage or something else of that size/reputation.

This one has actually been moved to the storage wing of the museum! An incredible collection on its own.... I think RCAF 1034 would make for a great story and exhibit, almost as alluring as the Sahara P-40

I wonder what the ID is on the P-40K which from the photos is down at Wollongong.

The owner's name is George Maude, not Meade.

I hope the CWH gets it as it's service life was with the RCAF during the War.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.
