I vote for A-26, mainly because its my favorite twin. But Robs post gave me a visual of a airfield full of Catalinas, now that would be awe inspiring.

A gathering of Spitfires would be something special here in North America. But I have to agree with Scott, and A-26 gathering within driving distance for me would be an easy sell.

With the increasing numbers of airworthy Spitfires and P-40s in the United States, I'd like to see gatherings dedicated to those types. Suggestions to show organizers have so far fallen on deaf ears however... :0( Jim

Picture this: The Great North American Wildcat Tailchase. I'd like to see every flyable F4F/FM-2 in one continuous string...

Swooping through the cumulus, then diving down to tree-top level, flying through barns, tipping cows over...

My vote, though not as exciting but I am certain would be impressive would be a gathering of DC-3/C-47 types. They are much less expensive to run, therefore fuel requirements less burdensome for sponsors. In addition, many of them are capable of passenger flights, thus creating some history "immersion" for spectators.

Plus, aren't we coming up on the 75th anniversary of the type in the next few years?

Did I miss the B-17 gathering? I remember in 1989 at Geneseo seeing 6 B-17s fly in formation. 5 in later years. Was that it?.

I like to see a real gathering of Corsair's, A great attempt and It was great to see 5 fly together but I wished more had shown up.

Ok, I don't mean to say that the corsair gathering was bad in any way, I looked over the "real" part and it sounds much more negative then I wanted :oops:

There's been a few DC-3 gatherings in the last 20 years in Europe. Only 2001 saw seven put up by ONE operator in a mass balbo. Prizes for who and where...

Junkers 52-3m - The Swiss do quite well with that, with three examples...!

What do I want to see? The Dutch DC-2 in formation with the dH-88 Comet this year, 70 years after the Mildenhall-Melbourne air race. Isn't going to happen though.

I agree that the A-26 and Grummans are a possibility.

And how about a mass Seafire display? 2004 onwards...

I too would like to see an A-26 gathering. I did have the opportunity to go to the All Red Star event a few weekends ago at Castle Airport, and they had 25 CJ-6's on the ramp. I guess that could be considered a warbird gathering?

I would have said Air Atlantique at the 50s Airshow,Coventry - but a google search shows it was in 2000....

By the way, did I mention I went to an Grumman HU-16 Albatross gathering back in February. Had ten of the type in attedance..........
